90 Day Challenge- Does it work?

Being a nutrition consultant, I've had many people approach me with a new weight loss program that a fairly new MLM company is pushing very hard. Now I'm not a big fan of MLM company's but for the most part the products they push seem to do what there supposed to do.

After reviewing the info here's my take take on it.

1)  Science has proven over and over again that replacing meals with shakes is only has short term results. In fact once a person stops their "shakes" it is proven that they gain 15-20% more weight (fat) than what they started with. Ouch not good odds.

2) Reducing caloric intake is a sure way of weight gain down the road. The idea of drinking a meal replacement shake will put your body into fat storage mode. Reducing calories is only temporary for most. Once they stop on the restricted diet they gain it all back plus much more!

3) When replacing your meals with shakes and there is no physical activity involved your body will lose pounds, in the form of water and muscle. This is by far the worst way to lose weight! When looking for a weight loss program the idea is to lose body fat! This is why when someone does lose weight by drinking shakes, they are losing pounds but still have sagging fat because they lost water or muscle not fat. When you lose fat the scale follows suit!!!

So here's my take on meal replacement shakes. Yes someone will probably lose pounds off the scale which most people think is good. Unfortunately it is the WORST way to lose weight. The whole idea of being a healthy weight has to do with "FAT" on the body. If you lose weight by water or muscle loss you are worse off then when you started. Your metabolism will be slowed by up to 15% by "trying " to lose weight this way.

Here's my suggestion. If you want to lose weight (fat) consult a weight loss expert. If someone is trying to "SELL" you on a 90 weight loss challenge chances are 1) they are not experts in weight loss and 2) they are trying to make money off you.

The hype and misconception of weight loss is prevalent today. So in my professional opinion  please don't fall prey to it. Follow a professional in your weight loss journey!

Have a Healthy and Successful Day!
